Aggressive on both offense and defense, the Lady Mats never let the Vikings get close.

MVHS scored its first goal 18 and a half minutes into the game, with senior Sarah Im assisted by co-captain junior Janaye Sakkas.

Just 6 minutes later, junior Arushi Agarwala scored the Lady Mats’ second goal with an assist by Im.

LHS rallied back with just over 2 minutes left in the half, with a penalty corner leading to a goal by senior Rebecca Hatton.

MVHS answered almost immediately as they dribbled and passed the ball down the field, opening an opportunity for another goal by Agrawala and an assist by Sakkas with a minute left in the first half.

Hoping to keep up the momentum, the Lady Mats finished the first half up 3-1.

Saves by goalkeeper junior Susie Han allowed the Lady Mats to extend their lead as LHS attempted to recover in the second half.

MVHS scored two goals within four minutes with eight and a half minutes left in the game. The first goal was scored by senior Monica Oh with an assist from Im and the second by sophomore Julia Lu with no assist.

With just three minutes left, Lynbrook head coach Jenny Dumas received a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Han continued to keep the Vikings at bay with one minute left in the game, allowing the Lady Mats to finish 5-1.

MVHS is now second in the league, with LHS at third; as a result, the Lady Mats will continue to CCS. [/toggle_code]

Correction: Senior Alexis Page did not receive a yellow card as previously published; Lynbrook head coach Jenny Dumas received it for unsportsmanlike conduct.
