It seems like you can get anything from the Internet now — whether it’s a recipe, a diaper-changing tutorial or even fashion inspiration. Senior Angie Tong, for example, runs her own fashion blog, angelinadanielle.blogspot.com. Tong’s blog is comprised of regular posts about her fashion choices, be it an outfit she put together, a scarf she made or her haul from her most recent shopping trip.

Tong herself draws inspiration from social media sites like Pinterest and other fashion blogs such as kristenglam.blogspot.com . With the online fashion community so easily accessible, members can give and take outfit ideas conveniently, further developing personal styles in the process.

Many of Angie’s followers draw inspiration from her blog as well, such as senior Alana Lee.
“I see her outfits all the time and I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s really cute!’ … Her blog makes me want to make my own as well,” Lee said. “I’m into fashion anyway … and I like looking at fashion blogs in general.”

Tong’s introduction to the fashion world began during her sophomore year as she immersed herself into fashion trends. This summer, she decided to document her fashion progress via a fashion blog. Since then, she has been posting regularly about outfits she designs, always accompanied by photos of her modeling them.

“I love DIYs [Do-It-Yourself’s]. I’ve started to integrate them into my clothes,” Tong said, “My grandma taught me how to sew when I was little, and I’ve been sewing ever since.”
Her experience with sewing allows her to cut and restyle an old garment into something more current and trendy. Even more impressive are the clothes that Tong creates from scratch, composed from either fabric remnants from local fabric store Jo-Ann’s or scraps from her previous projects.

When asked what fashion trends she’s most excited for this fall, Tong’s face lit up with a grin.

“Fall is my favorite,” Tong said. “ I’m excited to start wearing sweaters and boots again, as well as scarves.”

Despite not being able to hear Angie’s voice while reading her blog posts, it’s not difficult to pick up on her love for fashion. She writes with a casualness that suggests her easygoing attitude toward fashion, but she displays her knowledge of the field when she begins describing the details of her outfits. In person, her love for fashion is even more evident. It only takes a comment on one article of clothing to set her off. Her love for fashion is unmistakable in every aspect of her, be it in what she wears, what she says or what she writes.
